Library Overview
The Hastings Public Library is located in downtown Hastings, MI next to City Hall. We directly serve residents of the City of Hastings, Hastings Charter Township and Rutland Township.

What We Offer

- A Digital Collection with tens of thousands of eBooks, audiobooks and magazines through Libby.
- A Library of Things with items like snow shoes, sewing machines, metal detectors and more.
- WiFi Hotspots
As part of the Lakeland Library Cooperative we also have access to materials from over 40 other libraries in Western Michigan. Additionally, through MeL, the Michigan electronic library, we can access physical materials from over 400 libraries across the state plus eBooks, magazines, homework aids, how-to manuals, learning aids and more.

Check Out and Return
Anyone with a valid library card from the Hastings Public Library, Lakeland Library Cooperative library, KDL or GRPL card can check out materials. See the How Do I Get a Library Card page for more information.
Patrons outside the Hastings Public Library service area, and without another valid Lakeland Library Cooperative card, can purchase a non-resident library card.
Checkout Time-frames
- Books, audiobooks, CDs: 3 weeks
- DVDs & magazines: 1 week
- Library of Things: 1 or 3 weeks depending on the item
- MeL Books: 28 days
All materials except Library of Things will automatically renew 3 days ahead of their due date if no other patrons have a HOLD request for the item. Items will renew twice, at which point they need to be returned. MeL items can only be renewed once.
Returning Items
Drive-thru Book and Audio/Visual returns are on the West side of the building facing City Hall. Items returned after hours will be checked in on the next business day. Additional return bins are located inside the library adjacent to the main desk.Materials can also be returned to any Lakeland Library Cooperative library if needed. KDL and GRPL will also accept returns of Hastings Public Library items but these may take longer to get back to us.Copyright Notice
