Phased Re-Opening Plan
The Hastings Public Library has developed a phased re-opening plan as COVID-19 restrictions are eased. Below is an overview.
Please note:
- The plan is subject to change based on situational changes, Executive/MDHHS/MIOSHA Orders and Library Board direction.
- No specific dates are associated with the phases.
- The Library may modify details of the phases and/or move through them faster or slower based on the situation.

The Library moved to Phase 4 as of 6/22/2021.
Phase 1
- The Library is open for drive-thru pickup of held items.
- No public access except for computer use reservations. Call us for more information at 269-945-4263.
- Staff is onsite to answer the phone.
- See the Drive-thru News Article for more information on drive-thru hours and the hold process.
Phase 2
- Drive-thru remains open for hold pickups.
- The Library opens to the public with reduced hours.
- Building capacity will be limited based on Executive Orders at the time of re-opening.
- Social distancing and mask/face covering guidelines in effect.
- Most furniture temporarily removed.
- No Library programs or public meetings will be held.
- Computers reduced and spread apart.
- Computers will be limited to 60 minutes of use daily. (on August 14th this was raised from 30 minutes)
- The Friends Store reopened to the public on Tuesday August 25th. NO DONATIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED.
Phase 3
- Some Library programs and public meetings resume.
- All other Phase 2 guidelines remain.
Phase 4
- Return to normal operating hours and programming.
- Computers return to 2 hours max usage daily.
