The Honey Dewdrops’
debut album, If the Sun Will Shine, was recorded as a live performance and mixed in a 1920s barn. The Dewdrops are the husband and wife team of Kagey Parrish and Laura Wortman. They wanted their first album to be full of the same energy and emotion that they brought to the stage.
Before their first CD was released in 2009, The Honey Dewdrops won first place on the public radio show A Prairie Home Companion’s “People in their Twenties Talent Show,” in March 2008. Additionally, the Dewdrops were selected as finalists in the 2009 Mountain Stage New Song competition and recently took 2nd place in the 31st Annual Eddie’s Attic Open-Mic Shootout Finals in Decatur, Georgia.
Parrish and Wortman both play the acoustic guitar on most of their songs. Their gentle, plaintive music focuses on vocal harmonies and tight instrumentation. As Jeff Royer of Fly Magazine describes it, their music captures, “something haunting, melancholic and all-together charming.”
